There will be a slight delay in the return of the 1990s…

I lost the bid for the stereo system in the last 2 minutes of the auction. I need to become a little more eBay savvy, I guess.

It looks like the seller has re-listed only the CD player. Perhaps the person who beat me really only wanted the head unit.

I’m watching a couple of other auctions right now for similar stuff. One is for WAY too much money. One is in Madison, WI, so I could have my brother get it for me.

I’m a bit disappointed, but I’m still pursuing the equipment. I’ll keep you posted.

Ah, this Ebay lesson was just learned by me last month, when bidding in my first-ever auction (for some 1930 MIT Wedgewood dishes, I eventually ended up winning just one). No one told me this until after I had bid, but apparently the trick is to “watch” an item, but not bid on it until the last seconds, because bidding on it earlier just lets people know that there is someone who wants it. Most Ebay experts apparently swoop in in the last seconds and buy for as little as possible. I was so upset to learn this, as I thought I had that set of dishes won! Word is that my Aunt Pam was an expert at Ebay strategy, too bad we never had the opportunity to learn from her experiences.
