Commuter car

The 900 has been dutifully serving as a commuter for the last month or so. Getting better MPG on regular gas than the V70R does on premium is a plus, as is the fact that I can spend the mileage reimbursement money on the 900.

Of course, not all is rosy with the 900. The CHECK ENGINE lamp still illuminates at periods of idle, there is an irritating rattle of the trim attached to the inside of the liftgate, and the AM/cassette stereo has a bad crackle in the speakers.

The saddest part is that the Autocross season started last Sunday 04/29, a beautiful sunny day, and I missed it. We were to be away on a family trip to Vancouver BC, though during the autocross we were on our way home with a very sick Luisa.

The next race is on Sunday 5/13 (Mothers Day) but I’ll miss that too because I’m flying out to LA for some training that starts at 9:00 AM Monday morning. Boo hoo. The 900 is fun to drive around, but I want to autocross it again!

You get to go to LA!? Lucky! I wish I could go to SoCal and hang out on the beach and all that. Are you driving? Are you going to Hollywood? Too bad Paris Hilton will be in jail, or you could hang out with her. Is it more medical training? Or are you getting certified in hydraulics so that you can go to Germany next time? What ever happened to your friend who swallowed the roll of quarters?

don’t worry you can still see Paris Hilton as she doesn’t go to jail until June 5th.

Just found out about saablog the other day! Because of the burdens of my last quarter of school, it took me a full two days’ worth of classes to catch myself up. I had the privilege of riding in the 900 when I met Erik and Katie for lunch at Red Robin on the Seattle waterfront. I must say, I applaud you for taking the plunge. It’s a great project, and it’s fun to read about.

Because I’m late to the party, I have to address a couple of points:
    1) The racing stripe kicks ass, hands down, no discussion necessary. This is not a gender thing, it’s a style thing. The matching number is also a nice touch. I’m thinking of buying a white VW camper van, and you can bet that I’ll get some Herbie-style racing stripes installed wit a quickness. I figure Erik can help me put them on.

    2) All cities are municipal corporations. Apparently, SLC isn’t shy about that fact. Tough luck about the speeding ticket, though.

    3) Paris Hilton sucks.

    4) The ‘79 Toyota was a great truck. After all, what would the Miller boys be without their rockin’ 8-track collection?

    Cheers to the Miller clan.

Steve Gillespie, welcome to the Saablog. Thanks for reading.

You’ve got to come show off your VW Camper if you do get one. I’ve always wanted one of those. I’d help you put the stripes on it if Erik wont…
