Classic 900s are like magnets…
I’ve found that classic 900s are like magnets. They attract one another. here is proof:
It’s always good to have a spare around, right?
Actually, the white one here was my “no groaner loaner” when I took the 9-5 in for it’s 60k service a few weeks ago. $10/day plus a day-long service schedule gets you a classic 900 experience. I’d love the spoiler off of this one, which is a 1992 900 base car. Of course, it had its flaws: the dash was horribly cracked and it had this funny shifter:
Thing is, though, this one never ground into 2nd gear. But it also is only a 3-speed unit, so it never shifted beyond third. Oh well.
I think the 900 looks much better in black than in white. But you probably would have guessed that about me given my history with black Saabs.
A car that looks good in white is the 1997 Volvo 855 T5, Erik’s car that I’ve been driving during our “spring break” trip to Wisconsin. I put “spring break” in quotes because it’s been more like winter break given this week’s snow storm. More about the 855 (and my 900) later.
